Mental illness is nothing shameful and we repeat it is NOT something to be ashamed of. It does not mean you are mad or people consider you to be retarded. According to a survey by World Health Organization, more than 36% of the population in today’s life suffers from depression. A lot of people feel afraid to share what’s on their mind, their feelings, their fears, and their anxiety. They just can’t let it out.
“What will they think of me?” is the first question that comes to their minds. We are too anxious about our career, our future, our social life, our family, with so much pressure, sometimes our mind just wants to burst out, but we can’t let it out. And keeping things suppressed is the major cause of depression in so many people. Our very own Bollywood superstars too are victims of extreme mental pressure and mental illness.
Anushka Sharma’s tweet about her mental illness
Anushka Sharma recently tweeted about her mental illness/depression. Her Tweet said, “Depression is a prison where you are both the suffering prisoner and the cruel jailor.” She also said depression or any other forms of mental illness is absolutely normal. And taking medications for it is nothing to be ashamed of. Her family also has seen cases of depression. Talking about it makes things easy.
During the shoot of his movie Badlapur, Varun Dhawan had to live up to his role of a psycho and depressed husband seeking for vengeance. While preparing for the role, he actually felt like he was getting into depression. When he started feeling too much depressed, he was prescribed a doctor for it. He said, “celebrities and movie stars are normal human beings too, and are not immune to mental illnesses like depression and anxiety.”
